This was the first ice skating cake I ever made, it was a 2 layer Chocolate eight inch round cake on a 9 by 13 inch vanilla cake. The bottom cake, was covered in vanilla butter-cream icing and covered with a periwinkle blue piece of fondant and indented with a quilting pattern. I put a sugar pearl at the cross of the indentations. Then I put a white shell border around the base. The top cake I iced in blue butter-cream icing and made a blue fondant bow. I used piping gel to paint on the ice skate. Then for the final touch I took white sugar crystals and sprinkled them onto the cake to make it look like it had just started to snow. Delicious!
